These Release Notes contain a summary of changes made for the October 20-21, 2020 release of Echo360. For changes made in previous deployments, see the other Release Notes articles located in this Topic group, or contact email@example.com.
As you may be aware, Echo360 is in the End of Life (EOL) process for the SafeCapture HD (SCHD). We plan to phase out both technical support and functional support in the platform over the following timeline:
- April 1st, 2020: Echo360 has ended Software Support
Echo360 is no longer providing software updates for the SCHD appliance. This policy applies to enhancements, bug fixes, and security patches. Echo360 will continue to test SCHD appliances with improving versions of the Echo360 cloud platform until the End of Life date. In addition, the Echo360 Support Team will continue to assist customers with configuring and managing SCHD appliances until the End of Life date.
- December 30th, 2020: End of Life
Echo360 will no longer ensure functionality of the SCHD appliance in any way. Echo360 will no longer test the SCHD on new cloud service releases and the Echo360 Support Team will no longer continue to diagnose or solve issues impacting SCHD units still in the field at that time.
You may continue to use functioning SCHDs for as long as you wish; however, we cannot guarantee the functionality of hardware/software compatibility with the Echo360 cloud platform past the above dates. If you have any questions about your transition to another capture method, please contact your Echo360 representative.
Administrators can now see Interactive Media in the Completed Captures page. Administrators now have visibility of interactive media created for the system. This allows administrators to access the analytic data surrounding the use of interactive media, as well as assist Instructors in troubleshooting issues if necessary. To find interactive media more easily, a Type field has been added to the Source filter on the page, that allows admins to select audio, video, or interactive media as a type for filtering the list.

Bulk Add Media to Groups is here! Group members with Add/Upload media rights for a group can now select MULTIPLE items to add to their groups at once. Users are limited to adding 30 items at a time.

Individual user view data now available for media analytics - The Analytics Tab on the Media Details page now includes a list of all users who have viewed the media, including view counts and average and total view times. The Data Download from the Analytics Tab now also provides individual users' view data. As before, this data along with the view by date and view by location tables is subject to and filterable by Time Range and Media Location.

NOTE: There is an issue with the media Downloads counts that is being addressed. No data has been lost and those counts will be updated and accurate as soon as the fix is released.
Alt-Text field for Image Polls - Image polls, for use in interactive media and presentations, now provide an alt-text field. This allows poll creators to enter descriptive text (up to 500 characters) about the image, that can then be read by screen readers for low or non-sighted users.

- Resolved an issue where a recording created with UC could potentially become stuck on a user’s machine and not upload.
- Resolved a UI issue where the Transcripts or Captions menu in the Media Details page would be cut off by the bottom of the browser screen.
- Resolved additional issues surrounding Student permissions in a Group if the Student Library is toggled off.
- Content that was created prior to the previous fix surrounding playback in the new external player (See 9/21 Release Notes) now plays correctly as well.
- Addressed keyboard navigation issues in the Create Zoom Meeting dialog box.
